Scoliosis Poem – World Poetry Day
This weekend, it is World Poetry Day! So, I thought I’d get my creative juices flowing and write a little scoliosis poem.
I call it “My curved spine.”
Now, I’m not much of a poet but I just wrote how I felt, which was therapeutic. The poem represents my love/hate relationship with my scoliosis and body. Over the years, my spine has caused me much pain, but it’s made me who I am and I’m proud of the person I’ve become.
My Scoliosis Poem: My curved spine
My curved spine,
you’re always there;
My curved spine,
you cause me pain;
My curved spine,
Why me?
My curved spine,
you make me different;
My curved spine,
you make me worry;
My curved spine,
I’ve hated you;
My curved spine,
I’ve hated me;
But in the darkness,
my curved spine;
You’ve made me determined;
You’ve made me strong;
You amaze me
with the things you can achieve.
My curved spine, don’t you see?
You’ve made me who I am today.
Despite the pain, my curved spine, I love you.
You are beautiful
and I wouldn’t have you any other way.
Let’s celebrate World Poetry Day! I would love to hear your own scoliosis poem.
