Manchester Half Marathon

Manchester Half Marathon

This post is a bit late, but life has been a bit crazy recently! A couple of weeks ago, on the 14th October, I was so proud to complete my second half marathon of the year - the Manchester Half Marathon. It was my goal to complete a half marathon this year, but I never thought I would complete TWO half marathons! I booked onto this second half marathon in a moment of madness after the Great Manchester Run I...Read More
My first half marathon: Great Manchester Run

My first half marathon: Great Manchester Run

A couple of weeks ago (Sunday 20th May), I took part in a massive personal challenge - my first half marathon (The Great Manchester Run). I wanted to share this on my blog just to show that with hard work, anything is possible. My first half marathon - training I love to push myself and completing a half marathon was one of my goals for this year. So back in January, I signed up to the Manchester half marathon, which...Read More
Chester 10K

Chester 10K

So, this year I have set my sights on completing at least 10 10K races/running events as part of my 2018 goals and Chester 10K was race number four. So far the others include Tatton Park 10K  (which I’ve done twice this year) and a night trail run at Lyme Park. I was nervous but excited to take part in the Chester 10k, mainly because it was quite a big event and it’s also the first one they’ve held in Chester. Chester 10K:...Read More
Tatton Park 10K: 1st 10K of the year…

Tatton Park 10K: 1st 10K of the year…

So this year I have set myself the challenge of completing at least 10 10K races (and a half marathon... eeek!). I feel like I really need a new challenge after The Great Wall of China and this is kind of part of that. I'm also planning some other big events later this year because I love to keep pushing myself (watch this space!) So a couple of weeks ago (Sunday, 14th January) I completed my first 10K of the...Read More
The Great Manchester Run… Wow!

The Great Manchester Run… Wow!

I had an absolutely AMAZING day yesterday and just felt like I had to share it on my blog. Yesterday I took part in the Great Manchester Run (10K). This was the first ever competitive timed race that I have ever taken part in. I have done fun runs before but this year I decided that I wanted to push myself even further and get serious about my running. When I signed up to the Great Manchester run back in...Read More
British 10k London Run

British 10k London Run

I'm so excited! This week it was confirmed that I have a place in the British 10K London run on 9th July and I'll be running to raise money for the Scoliosis Campaign Fund. The British 10K London run takes runners through some of  London's most iconic sites, such as Trafalgar Square, the Embankment, Big Ben and more. The Scoliosis Campaign Fund raises money to support people with scoliosis and their families, and fund research into finding the causes of...Read More
Pretty Muddy!

Pretty Muddy!

I love a good challenge and continue to push myself following my scoliosis surgery. So, earlier this year, despite injuring my shoulder running last August, I decided to sign up to Pretty Muddy - a 5K muddy obstacle course - to raise money for Cancer Research UK. I was a bit nervous and worried that I wouldn't be flexible enough to do all of the obstacles, especially as I knew that some involved crawling under nets through the mud. However,...Read More
Race for Life!

Race for Life!

This weekend I did something I thought would never be possible following my scoliosis surgery. I ran 10K (!) through Delamere Forest for Race for Life to raise money for Cancer Research UK.  I'm not going to lie, the training was hard for me. Especially as I only signed up 5 weeks before the event and so had limited time to train (plus I had never really 'done' running before!). I always thought running and scoliosis didn't really go together...Read More
