As June is Scoliosis Awareness Month, I have been sharing your own inspiring scoliosis stories across my blog and Instagram.
There is still time to get involved! If you would like to share your story, please email me or DM me on Instagram. 🙂
My Scoliosis Story – Dannii
I’m Dannii from East Yorkshire, I’m 28 years old and I’m an animal keeper.
I have lumbar scoliosis as well as a complete reversed curve.
I was a late diagnosis in 2016, after finally getting X-rays after suffering years of back pain.
My curve is currently 28 degrees. I have been offered surgery but I’m still in the process of deciding what I want and weighing up the pros and cons.
Despite having scoliosis, I’m a keen runner. I’m definitely not the best or fastest, and I never will be but I am determined. I put alot of time and effort into my running and I’ve ran: 32 10ks, 17 half marathons (hoping to make it 20 this year!) and I’m currently training for my 3rd marathon in Berlin.
My dream is to come a 6 star finisher one day and doing it as a scoliosis warrior just makes it that all more special.
I do suffer with severe back pain and I really struggle to sleep because of it. The worst thing for me is the breathing, I often lose my breath and it’s awful and scary.
The advice I would give for anyone affected by scoliosis is to look for support. I spent so long hiding my scoliosis when I should have being embracing it, because it’s part of me. There’s so much support out there for all us warriors.

Thank you Dannii for sharing your story. As a fellow runner, and someone who hopes to complete a marathon (one day!) I find your story incredibly inspiring.
Lots of Love,
I had scoliosis surgery in 2010 and blog about my experiences living with scoliosis. My aim is to raise awareness of scoliosis and help and inspire others with the condition.
